First week letter

Dear 4th & 5th Grade Class,
Hello! My name is Reina Honig and I am very excited to introduce myself to you as your teacher for this school year. I hope you had a nice and restful summer. I went mountain biking at Lake Tahoe and surfed in San Clemente & Cambria. I also visited Hearst Castle! I can’t wait to find out all about your summer!
I want to tell you a little about myself as we start this new school year together.  I am originally from Santa Barbara. I went to UCSB and majored in History, so you can expect some social studies lessons that I am really interested in, and I hope they’ll grab your attention too! In 2006, my husband and I went on a trip around the world and visited 10 countries. We brought our surfboards and snorkels and took hundreds of pictures. As always, I enjoyed watching the Giants games this summer and I even got to go to a game! My family is really quite large; I am the oldest of 5 kids! My sister is 34 and she has a daughter who is 7 and just started 2nd grade. My brother, who is 32, is married and they have a little girl who is quite the talker! She also has a little brother who is just learning to crawl. My younger brother works at the airport and plays the guitar and piano in a band and has a son whose birthday is the day after Christmas. My youngest brother is studying to be a police officer. He is adopted and was born in Romania. I am looking forward to finding out more about your families and interests as we work together this year!
Thanks for taking the time to read my letter. I know we are going to have a fantastic year together.
Yours truly,

Mrs. Honig

Welcome back to school!

Hello Mountain 4/5 Families,

I am so excited about the 2014-2015 school year! Below you will find a list of supplies that I'd like students to gather as we embark on the year. I will be going over all of these materials in the first week of school so they are by no means required for the first day. We have limited space in desks, so please stick to the list as closely as possible with regards to pencil boxes, drawing/writing materials, etc. I'm really looking forward to this school year and getting to know all of you!

Warmly,
Ms. Honig
