Newsletter for week of 9/3/13

Dear 4/5 Families,

We had a fantastic first week of school! The students are settling in well to our classroom and beginning to learn about procedures expectations. We created our classroom agreements together in an effort to create a learning environment that allows and promotes students to do their very best. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the agreements (below) and how he/she can help to create a place that is safe and positive for his/her classmates.
  • Take responsibility for your actions
  • Be encouraging & helpful in a friendly way
  • Be respectful to others, and be kind & cooperative
  • Always walk in the classroom & on the ramp
  • Be quiet while working, don’t distract others
  • Keep your hands to yourself
  • Have fun, persevere & try your best ALWAYS!
As we begin digging into curriculum, we will be working towards organizing work in a way that is useful and helpful to your child’s success. I expect student supplies to be in by this Friday so we can organize our binders together. The list is posted on our class website as well as at our classroom. Homework begins today and you will find the policies and procedures explained within the green folder that your child brought home. This folder should be taken home everyday and returned to school the following day. If you have questions about homework policies, please talk with your child or email me.
I look forward to meeting all of you and describing to you our curriculum plan at Back-to-School night, Wednesday, September 11. If you have questions or concerns before then, please email me at rhonig@santacruz.k12.ca.us. Thank you!
Warmly,
Ms. Honig
